An e-commerce site is basically a website that sells products or services using
a secure payment system.
While internet sales are expanding every day, for every internet success story,
sadly, there are also sites that have either failed miserably or are just
limping along for their owners. An online store should be treated with
the similar considerations as opening a physical store. A good quality
site, with easy to use navigation, that offers a secure payment systems is the
very minimum in e-commerce standards.
An e-commerce site would typically include the following items:
Self Administration Facility (update content and data securely and easily)
Products management. (Pricing, features, specials, images)
A Shopping cart
Customers account section
Shipping possibilities (Road mail, Express post, International shipping ect)
A secure payment system (PayPal, BPay, EFT)
While the above items are essential to a good e-commerce site the possibilities
are in fact endless.
The future is the web. We must think of it not as "a" business tool,
but "THE" business tool.
