Client Requirements

Typically to get a website developed there are quite a few items that you need to provide us with. A sample listing is below, but please take into consideration that this is not necessarily the exact listing we will require from you.

 Your Business Details:

a. A brief summary of what you do, who for, where you are located, and what kind of market you aim your products/services at.

b. A short summary of what your website/project is for. i.e.: A website to sell our products, an information site we can refer our customers to.

c. Some competitors and relative industry information. Research who are competing against you, look at their websites, make a note of what you like and don't like about them. Compile a list of your competitor’s sites.

d. Who will be managing your project? Are they capable of making all decisions? What your budget and timeline are. Any specific desires - i.e.: we want to be able to upload our own pictures.

  Project Description & Objectives:

a. Describe your business strategy and goals for your site. How will your website slot in with your current marketing goals and strategies. Make a list of all that you want your website to achieve. Such as: I want my customers to be able to easily and safely buy my products, choose shipping options, receive email confirmations and join a mailing list.

b. Marketing plan: How are you going to promote your website? While we will submit your website to the major search engines, the best way to direct business to your site is still referral. Do you have product suppliers that will or can recommend you from their own site? If you supply rain gauges for example, will your major supplier list you as their distributor? Will you have your stationary reprinted with all your website details; do you have any road frontage that would be suitable for signage?

 Functional Requirements:

A list of everything you think you would like to have on your website. For example:

members area,   secure payments,  staff logins,  email newsletters,  clients details to be stored in a database,  sales reports (i.e. daily, monthly etc), inventory management.

  Customer Needs:

What markets and customers do you target? Can you profile these?

How can your web site take some of the burden off your current retails outlet? If you have a physical location, have you considered restructuring staffing levels and job specifications to ensure any website orders are packed and shipped promptly?

Why would your customers use a website instead of browsing at your physical location?

  Design and Structure.

How should the site look and feel? List websites that you like, whether or not is a similar product, the style and design that you like is important. We will then assess whether the style and designs you would like would be the most suitable for the market you are addressing.

Please supply in detail logos, supporting supplier/franchise information, fonts/typefaces, available images and photos.

  Content.

All the text that will be required for your website. This will need to be supplied ordered and spell checked. Each page of your website will need to have all the information supplied. After the initial contact with you and a brief collaboration, we can supply you a listing of all the information we will need. At the very least you will need data for the following:

About Page - a brief description of your business, staff qualifications, what you do and why you are the preferred supplier of your style of product/service.

Contact Page - all contact details

Main Page - An introduction of your products and services.

Services Page - if you provide services and not necessarily product sales, you will need to assemble a list of the services you provide and a full description of each service for every sub page.

Freight information: If you are going to have an online store you will have to have detailed information on the freight company you use, costs per order, per size etc and aprox delivery times.

Products List: A full listing of all products. Name, price, description, stock levels, freight costs etc. This information will need to be supplied in digital format. An excell spreadsheet would be ideal. If you have your inventory stored digitally now, you may have to contact your software provider to see if the information can be extracated to a digital file. For example - MYOB has the ability to export info to a text file which would be suitable.  If your information has to be provided to us in printed format, there will be an hourly rate to convert this information to digital.(NB: we will be doing extensive testing on your site and will need data to complete this testing. With this in mind, we upload your own data and test with that so you are up and going as soon as the site is finished. You can update your product information at any time after this.)

You bank account details for the payment processing system. This will depend on what system you choose. Paypal requires an email address (which we will set up for your domain) and bank details. If you would like a separate secure payment system, you may have to approach your bank and setup an internet merchant account.
